2018 International Workshop on Superconducting Materials for Applications was held in IEE

2018 International Workshop on Superconducting Materials for Applications, which is aimed at promoting international academic exchanges in the field of superconductor research. It was successfully held in IEE by department of Superconducting and New Energy Materials on Aug. 18. The workshop was chaired by Professor Yanwei Ma, and more than 10 renowned experts and scholars from famous research institutes and universities in the world were invited to give a talk. More than 20 young researchers and graduate students participated in the workshop.

Topics of the workshop is mainly about high-temperature superconducting materials including new superconductors, iron-based interface superconductors, (Li, Fe) OHFeSe superconducting films, iron-based superconducting strips and copper-based high-temperature superconductors; flux pinning mechanism research in superconducting materials; the application of high-temperature superconducting materials in high-field superconducting magnets. Participants presented their latest research achievements and shared their valuable experiences in the study of high-temperature superconductors and superconducting thin films. The application prospects of high-temperature superconductors in high-field were discussed. There is a new understanding of the research and development trend of high temperature superconductors after the seminar, and it provides a chance for researchers at home and abroad to communicate and cooperate with each other on improving the application performance of superconductors. During the meeting, the experts also visited the advanced processing platform for fabricating superconducting materials.

The experts who participated in the workshop are listed as follows: Prof. Hideo Hosono from Tokyo University of Technology, Prof. David Larbalestier from the American Academy of Engineering, Prof. Judy Wu from the University of Kansas, Dr. Jianyi Jiang from Florida State University, and Prof. Tsuyoshi Tamegai from the University of Tokyo, Prof. Xavier Obradors who is the director of European superconducting research project “Eurotapes”, Prof. Xiaolin Wang from the University of Woolongong, Prof. Xianhui Chen from the University of Science and Technology of China, Prof. Xiaoli Dong from the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Haihu Wen of Nanjing University, and Prof. Xucun Ma from Tsinghua University, Qingjin Xu from the Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS, and Zhang Xianping from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, CAS .
