Dr. Maxim Malashin from the Institute for Electrophysics and Electric Power of Russian Academy of Sciences (IEE RAS) visited our Institute and made an academic speech named “Fundamental study of DBD behavior under atmospheric air conditions and its promising technological applications”on May 22, 2014. Dr. Tao Shao presided over this lecture and more than twenty research staff members and graduate students took participate in the lecture. In his speech, Dr. Malashin first introduced the research directions of the IEE RAS, and then he detailedly introduced his research on composite high voltage solid-state switches, high-voltage switches with capability of pulse width control, pulsed power generators for lasers excitation, saw tooth pulsed power generator, DBD formation and application in open air, etc. After that, Dr. Malashin discussed with several research staff members and graduate students. This lecture provided our research staff and graduate students a precious opportunity for academic communication and broadened our minds on the relevant researches. Many research staff members said they learned a lot from the lecture. Dr. Maxim Malashin, Senior Researcher, Laboratory of Applied Electrophysical Research, Moscow Branch of Institute for Electrophysics and Electric Power of Russian Academy of Sciences (IEE RAS). He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Technical Sciences in 2010. His current research interests focus on high voltage solid-state switches; high voltage nanosecond pulse power generators; Pumping sources for gas discharge lasers (copper vapor and ArF excimer) and DBD formation in air and its application.
