Pakistan Governments’ Officials Visited IEECAS

The joint secretary of ministry of water and power Islamabad, Pakistan, Mr. Imran Ahmad, in a line of nine governments’ officials visited IEECAS on April 2nd, 2014. The purpose of their visit is to learn from experiences in developing small wind power systems for rural areas in China. The deputy director of new energy and renewable energy department at national energy administration, Mr. Lishan Shi, the director of IEECAS, Prof. Liye Xiao, and the director of renewable energy generation system research department, Prof. Honghua XU, attended the meeting.

 

After a warm welcome speech from Prof. Xiao, the deputy director Mr. Shi gave a brief introduction about current energy consumption situation and renewable energy development in China. He pointed out that irrational energy structure and low energy conversion efficiency are the major difficulties, and also caused many problems, such as environmental pollution. He also mentioned present rural-gird construction circumstances in China and hoped the Economic Corridor Project between China and Pakistan can promote more bilateral cooperation in the field of power and energy.

 

Mr. Ahmad first thanks Mr. Shi and Prof. Xiao for the reception. Then the experts who are engaged in the development of wind and solar technologies, system design and project development in rural areas from both sides had carried out discussion on topics of common interests.

 

The nine participants are provided by a research and development technical assistance for Asian rural areas from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). They will also visit Gansu, shanghai, Hulunbeier, Hohhot, Inner Mongolia in the next few days.
