The 16th International Symposium on Electromagnetic Launch Technology(EML) organized by China Electrotechnical Society and Institute for Strategic and Innovative Technologies, was held successfully at the China National Convention Center on May 15-19, 2012. Institute of Electrical Engineering(IEE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) co-organized the symposium.
The scope of this symposium focuses on seven research themes, including: Launchers, Projectiles, Pulsed-Power Supply Technology, Modeling and Simulation, Diagnostics, Applications and Directed Energy. 156 experts and representatives from China, USA, Germany, France, Russia, England, Japan, Italy, Israel, Turkey, India, Korea, Iran, Singapore and Colombia attended the symposium, which received about 287 papers. During the symposium, the participants delivered reports and exchanged reviews on the topics covering related technologies about EML.
In the afternoon of May 18, the participants visited the IEECAS research laboratories including the high voltage laboratory, maglev and linear drive technology laboratory and evaporative cooling laboratory.
It is the first time that the EML conference was held by non-American and non-European. It shows big international influence of our country in electromagnetic launch field.
