The 1st Symposium on The Development of Energy Storage Battery Technology

The 1st Symposium on The Development of Energy Storage Battery Technology, sponsored by Beijing Natural Science Foundation of China, was held in Beijing on September 16, 2017. This symposium was organized by Institute of Electrical Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IEE CAS) and hosted by Yongchong Chen who is the leader of Energy Storage Technology Research Group of IEE CAS. More than 110 experts and scholars from Energy Storage Application Branch of China Industrial Association of Power Source (ESAB-CIAPS), Saitama Institute of Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials, Researcher of People's Liberation Army Institute of Chemical Defense, China Energy Storage Alliance, Beijing Institute of Collaborative Innovation, etc., attended this symposium.

Focusing on the topics of “Research of new energy storage battery systems”, “Energy storage battery ontology and key materials” and “Application and recycling of energy storage battery”, 16 invited experts gave wonderful speeches during the symposium. After a widespread and profound discussion, the experts suggested that the energy storage battery should be further explored in the following aspects:

(1) Security of large-scale energy storage battery system;

(2) Maintenance and recycling technology of energy storage battery;

(3) Stagger utilization and material regeneration of power battery;

(4) Equilibrium and thermal management of battery module;

(5) Research of economic value and additional value calculation of energy storage system;

(6) Ultra high power energy storage battery technology adapting the requirement of large-scale power energy storage;

       (7) Research of new systems and critical materials of energy storage battery.
